Le site ArcelorMittal de Fos-sur-Mer s’organise à la suite de l’incendie du 8 octobre

Afin de faire un nouveau point de situation à la suite de l’incendie survenu mercredi matin, la direction d’ArcelorMittal Fos-sur-Mer a convoqué ce vendredi après-midi un CSE extraordinaire.
A la suite de l’incendie survenu mercredi 8 octobre, le site s’organise pour un arrêt de l’aciérie d’un mois. Cet arrêt pourra être adapté en fonction de l’évolution des travaux de réparation.
Les autres installations de production continueront à opérer en continu ou alterneront entre phases de marche et d’arrêt, selon les besoins opérationnels et les interventions programmées.
La priorité du management du site est de poursuivre les opérations de sécurisation et de protéger l’ensemble du personnel intervenant dans la zone.
La cause de l’incendie continue de faire l’objet d’investigations. Les premiers éléments indiquent que le produit chargé sur les bandes transporteuses se serait enflammé. L’enchaînement des faits reste à établir et fait l’objet d’investigations continues.
Selon la situation des installations et le personnel nécessaire à leur remise en état, les managers informeront les salariés qui seront mobilisés sur les prochaines étapes. En parallèle, ils positionneront les salariés concernés par l’arrêt de leur installation, en formation, en repos (jours consolidés) ou en activité partielle de longue durée (APLD).
Pour rappel, cet incendie n’a pas fait de blessé. Il a touché une structure porteuse de bandes transporteuses desservant l’aciérie et une station électrique de cette unité, la mettant à l’arrêt dès mercredi matin.
 
 
 
Following the fire on 8 October, ArcelorMittal’s site in Fos-sur-Mer is initially planning to shut down the steelshop for one month. This shutdown may be adjusted depending on the progress of repair work. Operations to secure and shut down the blast furnace are underway and its stoppage is planned for one month as well.

In order to provide an update on the situation following the fire on Wednesday morning, the management of ArcelorMittal Fos-sur-Mer convened an extraordinary works council meeting on Friday afternoon.
Following the fire* on Wednesday 8 October, the site is organising a one-month shutdown of the steelshop. This shutdown may be adjusted depending on the progress of repair work.
Other production facilities will continue to operate continuously or will alternate between periods of operation and shutdown, depending on operational requirements and scheduled maintenance.
The site management’s priority is to continue safety operations and protect all personnel working in the area.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Initial findings indicate that the product loaded onto the conveyor belts may have ignited. The sequence of events has yet to be established and is the subject of ongoing investigations.
Depending on the situation of the facilities and the personnel required to repair them, managers will inform employees who will be mobilised on the next steps. At the same time, they will place employees affected by the shutdown of their facility in training, on leave (consolidated days) or on long-term partial activity (APLD).
* As a reminder, no one was injured in this fire. It affected a structure supporting conveyor belts serving the steelworks and an electrical station in this unit, bringing it to a halt on Wednesday morning.
